The F Word Writing Groups

Gather. Write. Share. Build community through feminist songwriting.

Across cities and online spaces, people are beginning to gather in F Word Writing Groups to explore the prompts and practices in The F Word Workbook together.

An F Word Writing Group is a small group of songwriters who meet regularly to write, reflect, and share songs inspired by The F Word Workbook. Groups may meet in person or online and create space for feminist dialogue, creative exploration, and mutual support.

Anyone is welcome to start an F Word Writing Group. Groups may be hosted by songwriters, educators, activists, artists, or anyone interested in exploring feminist creativity. Each participant should have their own copy of The F Word Workbook so they can engage fully with the writing exercises and reflections.

How It Works

Typical group format:

  • 4–8 participants

  • Each participant brings their own copy of The F Word Workbook

  • Meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly

  • Work through prompts and songwriting exercises together

  • Share songs and reflections with the group

Some groups move through the workbook chapter by chapter, while others focus on prompts or themes that resonate with the group.

Starting a group can be simple.

  1. Invite a few friends or fellow songwriters

  2. Make sure everyone has a copy of The F Word Workbook

  3. Choose a meeting rhythm (weekly, biweekly, or monthly)

  4. Start writing and sharing songs together
